Around the sports college we have our own 18-hole disc golf course and large grass areas where you can practice length and precision.

Although disc golf is individual, and you mostly compete against yourself, there is plenty of social life. Disc golf is a copy of regular golf, where clubs and balls are replaced with discs (frisbees) in different plastics and weights, and the hole in the ground is replaced with a chain basket.

In the class we will work on throwing techniques, disc understanding and the mental aspects of the sport itself. In addition, Lena will give you an experience of what it means to play tournaments at a high level.

We are going on a trip to Aalborg disc golf course, where one of Denmark's coolest courses is located with its hilly 20 holes.

The sport has grown in the last few years, as it only requires 1 disc and a court, of which there are over 300 in Denmark.

The sport does not require large muscles or long legs, and everyone can join in. We work individually with each person's level.

Resin on the fingers and a ball in the hand – that's handball at the high school.

We grease our fingers thoroughly with resin and reach for a ball. Handball is a ball game, and that's why you have a ball in your hands as often as possible when you train here at Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole.

Handball is, for us, much more than handball. Our philosophy is that it should be fun, different and challenging. We work with the perspectives of team sports and the history behind them, so that you also learn more about how and why handball has become such a big part of the Danish sports identity.

Handball is first and foremost a team sport. But individual skills on the field are crucial. That's why we also work individually with technique, strength and movement. The starting point is your individual skills - regardless of your level. Here we will cover, among other things, the passing game, ball technique, throwing/catching and movement in both defense and attack.

As part of our profession, we are also handball nerds. This means that we go out and watch Aalborg handball play matches, train and prepare. We are also spectators and helpers at men's and women's final rounds on Danish soil.

Søren, who teaches, is our own handball nerd. He has played handball himself for many years, where it became the 2nd division as the highest level. He goes in and looks at the small details of your game, and helps you based on your level. He is an expert in setting up the training so that everyone is challenged despite different levels on the team.

PADEL IS THE NEW BLACK

One of the world's fastest growing sports – and for good reason. Padel is easy to get started with, but hard to master. If you don't already know Padel, it's time. Courts are popping up all over Denmark right now, and active players are increasing day by day. Basically, padel can be described as a mix of tennis and squash. It is most often played two against two with a tennis ball on a court measuring 10×20 meters, where there are walls on all sides. As a racket, you have a padel that is not strung, which makes the game slower and less technical. It is easier to hit the ball correctly, so to speak.

Where are we playing?

We play in the city's state-of-the-art padel center (Padel Nord). There are six double courts and one single court. It is also built with a ten-meter ceiling as required by the rules and an internationally approved center court.

It is also possible to use the tennis club's two outdoor courts in your free time. These can be booked free of charge through our membership. The courts are located approx. 200 meters from NIH.

The subject has an additional payment of DKK 1.000.

Tennis

With tennis as a subject at the college, you can enjoy that lovely sound when you hit the tennis ball perfectly.

COLLEGE TENNIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL SPORT IN A LARGE COMMUNITY

When you have tennis at the college, we work from where you are. There is a focus on technique, groundstrokes, serves, positioning, psychology and much more. In training, you will go through a lot of training exercises, where you will have the opportunity to work on your technique. We also always focus on making it fun.

Just across the road is Brønderslev Tennis Club. There are four good tennis courts here, which we use in our lessons. If you have tennis lessons, you always have the opportunity to book these courts, even outside of lessons. So just give it a go and get some servers in house.

We also have a ball cannon that ensures our training is right in the box. This can be set up in a variety of ways so we can practice every conceivable shot.

volleyball

Teamwork is essential in volleyball, so we focus on creating a community where you get to know your teammates' strengths and weaknesses.

THE BALL HAS BEEN GIVEN UP FOR A TIME OF VOLLEYBALL AT THE SPORTS COLLEGE

As part of the training, teamwork, overview and technique are worked on. There will be ongoing systematic work on the fundamentals: serve, smash, backhand and fingertip. Anja, who teaches, takes your level as a starting point. This means that you can join in, even if you have never tried volleyball before.

In addition to teamwork, physics, mentality, tactics and psychology are important aspects in volleyball. Here we, among other things, go in and work with the periods when the game does not work, when the mood is at its lowest and the opposing team is running away. How do you tackle this? How do you as a team turn the game to your advantage again? What can you do? This is precisely where teamwork means so much. You will experience this if you choose volleyball at Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole.
