How many students are there at NIH?
We typically have around 120–130 students at NIH. This means that you become part of a large college community with many different people, but still a community where you quickly get to know each other.
Who is NIH suitable for?
NIH is suitable for those who want to combine sport, community and personal development. You don't have to be an elite athlete, the most important thing is that you want to try new things, meet new people and be an active part of college life.
How much does it cost to attend NIH?
The weekly price is 1.875 DKK – as of 1/1 – 2027 1.950 DKK. In addition, a registration fee of 2.000 DKK and a material fee of 4.000 DKK are paid.

We reserve the right to make any errors or changes.
Exam, grade and curriculum?
No, there are no exams, grades or syllabus in the same way as in a regular education. At NIH, teaching is about desire, development, community and the courage to try new things.
You choose subjects based on what you want to delve into, without having to think about grades or assessment.
What is the average age?
Most students at NIH are between 18 and 30 years old, and the average age is typically around 21–22 years old.
How do you live?
We have 2, 3 and 4-person rooms at the sports college. There are bathroom and toilet in all our rooms.
The rooms are located in our room wing. All the rooms are gathered here. We have furnished them with kitchenettes, cozy corners and laundry facilities. In the middle of it all we have a green oasis where students can sunbathe and enjoy themselves when the weather permits.
Do you have a brochure?
You can download our brochure right now. here.
How do I choose a subject?
You first choose your subjects when you start at NIH. During the introductory week, we hold a career fair where you can hear more about the subjects and talk to the teachers. Then you put together your schedule.
In each period you choose 4 physical education subjects and 1 elective. The stay is divided into two periods, so you have the opportunity to try several different subjects during your stay.
Read more about the schedule and see our courses here.
Can I travel with NIH?
Yes. At NIH you can choose between different trips depending on whether you are going on an autumn stay, a spring stay or a year-round stay. The trips combine sports, experiences and community and can be, for example, skiing, surfing, sports, adventure, running or football.
See more about our trips here.
Do I need to be in good shape?
No. You don't have to be in particularly good shape to start at NIH. Our courses are for different levels, and you can join whether you've done a lot of sports before or just want to try something new.
Because you put together your own schedule, you can also tailor your stay in the direction that suits you, for example with more focus on the outdoors, creative subjects, community or personal development. The most important thing is that you want to be active, challenge yourself and be part of college life.
Weekends?
We have three different types of weekends:
A-weekend: This is a weekend where all students stay at the sports college. The teachers have arranged a great weekend with lots of fun activities. On Saturday evening we have a huge college party. We have A-weekends once a month.
Workshop weekend: Here you can go home if you wish. However, about 60-70% of the students stay during the weekends when they can go home. So there is plenty of life.
During a workshop weekend, we will be running some activities during Saturday and Sunday. They are on a voluntary basis, so you can do exactly what you want.
Weekend off: Here you can also go home, but 60-70% stay. Here the student activity committee does a lot of cool things. It could be a Harry Potter weekend or a trip to Fårup summerland.
Do you only do sports?
No. Although NIH is a sports college, a stay with us is not only about classic sports and training. The sports subjects at us can also be outdoor, nature, creativity, well-being, community and personal development.
You create your own schedule and can choose subjects with very different pace and focus. In addition, everyday life is filled with common college activities such as morning assembly, lectures, singing, community sports and time with the other students.

We love being able to collaborate across sports colleges 🤩
During the F26 stay, we visited Viborg Idrætshøjskole for a fantastic football match - and they visited for a beach volleyball match at NIH ⚽️🏐
It's so cool to see how the students exploit each other for some intense matches. There's fighting, laughing, cheering and sweating when the sports colleges are at their best 😎✌🏼
Thanks for the matches @viborgih - we look forward to many more!
