Cross Training

There is always full power in the training, lots of intensity and banging on the music system. Cross Training is for those who want to push themselves with functional training and have a party at the same time.

533 m² crossfit box to frolic in

We dare to say that we have almost perfect conditions for genuine cross training. Our fitness center, Nordboxen, has everything you could dream of in terms of equipment and machines. The center is 1000 m² and consists of a large crossfit box as well as strength, cardio and spinning rooms. Nordboxen can of course also be used in your free time.

Through a constantly varying composition of functional exercises performed at a relatively high heart rate, we will create workouts that challenge everyone.

Training is done with pullup bars, free weights, kettlebells, sandbags, ropes, tires, sleds and other functional training equipment.

We train as much as possible in our outdoor cross training area. Here we can take all our cool equipment from the gym outside and enjoy the fresh air while we work up a sweat.

Who should choose Cross Training?

The course is for everyone without exception. But you must have the courage to push your body to the limit. You will always experience full power during training and on the music system. It is for those who want to sweat and do effective training while having a lot of fun.

Dance

Are you a fan of high spirits, sweat, challenging and physical work with your own body? Do you want to explore different styles of dance while developing your body awareness, all while having fun?

DANCE FOR EVERYONE AND IN COMMUNITY

Then dance is the subject you should choose. When you dance, you not only increase your strength and flexibility, but you also achieve improved self-esteem both personally and socially. Here you will have the opportunity to express yourself through dance and become acquainted with several different styles. So do you want to throw yourself into a lot of different challenges while laughing and having fun? Then you won't regret this course.

The subject is also really good for those who want to apply for admission to the police. You get a lot of rhythm and coordination training, which is an important element in the entrance exam.

Fitness instructor

Our fitness instructor training gives you the necessary knowledge to work as a fitness instructor in an association-based fitness center or a commercial fitness center.

NOTE: The subject is offered as a course over two weekends. It is therefore not included in the normal schedule. Select after the start.

You will learn from scratch about the anatomy, physiology and training principles of the body. You will become skilled at creating individual programs for different types of exercisers and athletes.

You will gain practical experience with training both in machines, with your own body weight and with free weights. You will learn to take special target groups into account. You will gain extensive training experience yourself and find your way to success with fitness training, regardless of whether you are a beginner or an experienced fitness practitioner.

In addition, there are more people who use the instructor training as preparation for education. Many who want to study physiotherapy, occupational therapy or nursing use the subject so that they are better prepared for the start of their studies.

The course concludes with a theoretical and a practical test, so you get proof of your skills.

You can also supplement this subject with fitness group training, strength training or cross training.

The forms

You are introduced to physical training and exercise science. The connection between these two things is used in almost all classes to give you basic knowledge and practical experience. You are challenged to have a reflective and nuanced approach to physical training, while trying out different activities.

We have three different basic steps that we work from:

Training doctrine

The elements of basic training: cardio training, muscle training, mobility training, coordination and balance.

Working method

The teaching will be primarily teacher-led. There will be physical activity almost every time to give you experiences that can be used in the various theoretical presentations we work on in parallel.

Running school

IMPROVE YOUR RUNNING AND EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF RUNNING TOGETHER

One of the most important points for the running school here at Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole is that it is for everyone. Even those who have never run before. Whether the goal is to run 1, 5, 10 or 42 kilometers is secondary. The most important element is the motivation and desire to dive into the world that surrounds running.

We are not afraid to say that we possibly have one of the best running instructors. Morten Marinussen is a very skilled runner himself and has won several major races over the last 10 years.

So if you have the slightest interest in running, you will not be disappointed. You will find that there are many individual, but not least shared experiences in running with others. We are committed to focusing on community and helping each other.

Technically, you will work with your own running style. You will be given an individual running program that aims to improve your current form, but also pave the way for the development of your running technique. Therefore, you will also be offered a running style analysis so that you can see your own development from the first to the last lesson.

POLICE

DO YOU HAVE AN AMBITION TO WORK IN THE POLICE?

For example, if you want to focus mostly on the theoretical exam, your course will be adapted to this. This way, you get the best from the college's subject package while preparing for your dream education.

We have first-class facilities, subjects and instructors who are dedicated to helping you every step of the way. We also have a strong network of contacts with the police, so you can gain insight into the daily work they do.

YOUR NEEDS IN FOCUS

When you choose your subjects at Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole, you have every opportunity to put together a schedule that specifically prepares you to pass the police entrance exam. This can include sports subjects such as strength training, running school, cross training and other physical subjects. In addition, we have a wide selection of college-level academic teaching such as lectures, current affairs and social studies electives.

In addition, you will receive individual guidance from our instructors, including review of physical tests and professional sparring for the theoretical entrance exam at the police academy. In other words, you will be supported all the way until you feel safe and ready to register for the entrance exam at the police. If you need help writing the application, we will also support you in this process.

OWN DIVING ROOM AT THE COLLEGE

You will be taught the well-known basic jumps, and you will have the opportunity to work on compound jumps. You will work on jumping on airtracks and trampolines (both mini-trampolines and large trampolines).

The subject is based on classic vaulting gymnastics and mixes all the different types of gymnastics. The teaching is primarily active, but will also include professional presentations that support the focus of the lessons.

We will also work with the more free forms of movement in the apparatus activities. We will play with parkour and tricking, where there are no rules for style and execution - we can use our imagination and the skills we have acquired from classic vaulting gymnastics.

Spinning

Spinning is the sport where you have the opportunity to challenge yourself to the max, both physically and mentally. We start at a level where everyone can participate. You decide how hard it is.

GIVE IT FULL THROTTLE TO SPINNING

During the course you will automatically get in better shape, and we will continuously give you more challenges. We run different types of classes with a focus on both continuous training and interval training.

It's sweat and high burn. It's pounding rhythms and cool music. It's heavy wire and high cadence. Through well-planned training, games and competitions you get the opportunity to get in the shape of your life.

Strength training

Strength training is the subject where you - both as a beginner and experienced - get inspiration and motivation for your strength training.

DO YOU WANT TO LEARN TO SWIM – OR GET EVEN BETTER?

Swimming is a fantastic sport and can be practiced in many ways and at different levels. With us, everyone can participate, as we take the individual as our starting point. So whether you are a master of dog swimming or feel like a fish in water, you can learn something.

Many people choose to supplement swimming with other sports, such as XTERRA or triathlon. But fundamentally, swimming is a good way to strengthen and train your body. Plus, we always have fun when we're at the swimming pool, so you'll never get bored.

We are so lucky to have a large swimming arena here in Brønderslev. Here we have room for everyone in the large eight-lane 50-meter pool.
