COMMUNITY, SPORTS AND FREEDOM
At Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole, you can focus on your interest or curiosity for sports over a longer period of time – with training, experiences and development. We believe that sports are a natural part of life and everyday life, and you have the opportunity to concentrate on and develop within your favorite sport – or try your hand at a lot of new sports.
But we also put sports into perspective, and together with the sports subjects you have a number of general subjects that strengthen your basic professional and human skills. At NIH you have the opportunity to develop yourself personally, clarify your dreams for the future and gain experiences for life.
International
We love to mix our students with different cultures. That's why we also have a bunch of international students at the sports college. They make up about 10-20% of the total student body. Our teaching is in Danish, but we of course translate into English when necessary. The international students come from all over the world.
IS NIH FOR YOU?
NIH is suitable for those who want a college experience with sports, community and lots of opportunities. You can join, whether you have been involved in sports all your life or if you just want to try new things and become part of an active community.
Here you don't choose one fixed line, but put together your own schedule across subjects. This gives you the opportunity to both pursue what you already love and try something completely new.
SCHEME
At NIH we don't have lines, and our subjects are for everyone, regardless of level. This means that your schedule consists of four different physical education subjects. When we structure the schedule in this way, it also means that the student body is mixed in a really good way.
FACILITIES
The Sports College was built in 1986, with the aim of being a sports college. That's why the interior design is also well thought out. For example, you don't have to go outside when you walk from your room to the halls. It's pure luxury!
WEEKDAYS AND WEEKENDS
With us, you will become part of the vibrant life at the sports college. You will experience world-class teaching, weekends full of partying and color, and create unique friendships for life.
Teaching is a big part of your stay at the college. But free time is at least as important. This is where you really get to know your new friends. From the college side, we also arrange evening activities. But most of the time it is you and everyone else who invents and invites you to entertainment. Whether it is futsal in the hall, a badminton tournament, the opening of the climbing center or watching a movie – it is entirely up to the students.
"I went to Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole to surf. The college's close location to the North Sea made NIH an obvious choice for this. I also found it appealing that I didn't necessarily have to sign up for a specific 'line', but could more or less tailor a schedule of subjects that I liked."

As a student at Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole, you have the opportunity to choose the police course as a minor subject, if you are now, for example, dreaming of applying to the police academy👮♂️The police course is outside the teaching and functions as an extension to your stay. The subject takes into account, looks at and assesses the individual's skills and challenges with a possible police exam. After that, in dialogue with your teachers, you will receive help with exactly what is considered appropriate so that you have the best chance of passing the exam💪 If your dream is to be a police officer, this is the perfect way to prepare for your education, all the while enjoying your time as a college student, as the teaching is completely up to you and is not scheduled😊

HK Festival at NIH🎸🎤
Last week, some NIH students from @herrerneskorforening organized the HKFestival music festival at the college for the first time🥳 Thanks to @lucasjohannnes @daarlige_raad and @jeppejakobsenn for coming and playing for us! And thanks to @aalborgsportshojskole for participating on the day💙🧡
The day was filled with lots of great features that even the rain couldn't stop!☔️😎 The students had spent a lot of time and effort getting everything festival-ready, and it was a huge success and a blast of a day!✨
💁♀️ More than sports 💁
At NIH we have lots of great physical education subjects, but we also have a number of college subjects where the entire school comes together for joint teaching, activities and conversations across the school.
Once a week we have Lectures, where we invite external speakers to give us new perspectives and food for thought.
This spring we have had visits from, among others:

Under the warm Lanzarote sun, the students got up close to the athletes as they completed the tough and very special Ironman☀️🥵 All day long they helped guide the athletes, help in the transition zones, get people across the road safely, hand out medals and, not least, keep the atmosphere going - both among the audience and among some of the best triathletes in the world🤩
